summary
Is it a cocktail or is it a dessert? We’re not sure, we just know for certain that it is absolutely delicious! You can serve this espresso martini affogato recipe in a stemmed cocktail glass for sipping, or you can serve in a small bowl with a spoon for eating. Either way, it is wonderfully flavorful and luxurious and could not be easier to make.
ingredients
- 2 ounces top-shelf vodka
- 1 ounce espresso (chilled) or cold brew
- 1 ounce coffee liqueur
- ½ ounce simple syrup
- 1 scoop best-quality vanilla ice cream
directions
- Add the vodka, espresso, coffee liqueur and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
- Add the vanilla ice cream to a martini glass and pour the espresso martini over the top. Serve at once.
notes
Options for the coffee liqueur include Kalhua, Tia Maria and Baileys Irish Cream.
To make simple syrup, combine equal parts sugar and water in a pan over medium heat. Cook until the sugar is completely dissolved and then cool to room temperature.
Add the ice cream to the glass first so you don’t splash.
If you are making this espresso martini affogato recipe for a crowd, you can scoop your ice cream first and keep in the freezer so you have perfect scoops ready to go.
