Initially inspired by a Japanese fabric-dyeing technique, this abstract painting evolved into a meditation on light and transparency. Artist Patrick St. Germain applied washes of acrylic paint followed by layers of watercolor that give the work its ethereal air. Each handpainted canvas displayed in a hardwood floating frame expertly recreates the floating composition and translucent color of the original mixed-media painting.
